Obama Naturalized as a U.S. Citizen in 1983

RE: Bill O’Reilly, Fox News, on The O’Reilly Factor editorializes on the need for President Obama to disclose the U.S. Government assistance he has received as he rose to power to become the Commander in Chief of the United States of America and President of the United States.

In a blog post and on his Fox News television show, The O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly said:
But President Obama himself has a very compelling story to tell. His father abandoned him. He was raised primarily by his maternal grandparents in Hawaii. He had few resources. Yet, Barack Obama rose up to become the most powerful man in the world, a stunning achievement. How much the system helped Mr. Obama is unknown, as his college records have been kept private. We don’t know the extent of affirmative action. We don’t know how much the government subsidized his climb to the top. It would be very helpful to have that information simply to be fair to the President and his vision.

In truth, Obama’s background is more than compelling. It’s a tragedy. In 1971, Barry Soetoro, son of Lolo Soetoro and Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro, arrived at Hawaii International Airport as an unaccompanied minor with Indonesian Nationality. Minors with foreign nationality are not whisked through customs with a hope and a prayer by customs officers the child will not become a victim of child trafficking. Unaccompanied minors with foreign nationality arriving at any port of entry in the U.S. are taken into protective custody and held until a child welfare hearing is held to determine what is in the best interest of the child.

We know from Obama’s vital statistics, published and archived by the Hawaii Department of Health, he was born in Honolulu, HI on August 4, 1961 as the son of Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham. The Soetoro adoption was finalized in Hawaii after Lolo and Stanley Ann were wed. Obama’s original long form birth certificate was sealed and archived after a Court order to seal it. A Certificate of Live Birth for Barry Soetoro, son of Lolo Soetoro and Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro, was created and filed as part of the finalized adoption order.

In 1968, Secretary of State Dean Rusk issued Barry Soetoro, a/k/a Barack Hussein Obama II, a Certificate of Loss of Nationality so Barry Soetoro could naturalize as an Indonesian National. Obama’s mother had attested on her U.S. Passport renewal she intended to stay in Indonesia indefinately (sic). In 1971, Barry Soetoro was taken into protective custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. His legal custody was transferred to Catholic Social Services of Connecticut while his grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, was appointed his legal guardian.

Gun Law Drafted In Secret

Via: Daily Caller

By Alan Korwin, Author; Gun Laws of America, GunLaws.com

Bans Firearms Public Already Owns

State retains power to own all especially deadly guns

Forces federal agents to either violate state law or deny civil rights

Effectively immediately

That’s not the way networks covered it, is it, but identical story

Can you imagine what a tough uphill struggle the anti-gun-rights people would have if the “news” media wasn’t falling all over itself to support the anti-rights side?

Connecticut just drafted 138 pages of gun law basically in secret, enacted it before it could be read and digested by those who signed it — and certainly not by the public it pretends to legitimately control — and in doing so ended up requiring federally licensed agents in the state to violate federal law, or flatly deny citizens their rights. Just on practical grounds this is a disaster. But that’s as if nothing, according to leading experts.

Legislators who draft laws in secret are behaving like the king’s men who ignited the American Revolution. They can expect no less if they continue down such a dark road, many experts say.

What did the officials choose to draft law against by this nefarious method? Only the very palladium of liberty, the very thing the Revolution warned us to guard against, a bill to reduce and actually eliminate a right for keeping and bearing arms the public already legally keeps.

Along with a list of many of the most popular makes and models in use today, the bill includes broad descriptions of arms to cover an untold number of other modern and older firearms. Are they out of their minds?

Regime Change Begins at Home

By Stephen Lendman

March 31, 2013 “Information Clearing House” – Charles Derber’s book by that title says it’s the only way to free America from corporate rule. It transformed America from “we the people” to what CEOs say goes.

It put monied interests in charge. Presidents, legislators, and high level bureaucrats serve them. Whatever they want they get. Institutionalized injustice follows. It’s longstanding. Vital change more than ever is needed.

America had previous corporate regimes. None match today’s extremism. Bold, creative strategies are needed to change things. Commitment creates possibilities. Nothing worth struggling for is easy. Failure to try assures disaster.

America’s on a fast track to full-blown tyranny. It’s a hair’s breath away. Preventing it is top priority. It begins with knowledge. It involves knowing what’s at stake.

Money power runs America. Fundamental freedoms are on the chopping block for elimination. Preventing it takes commitment.

Challenging authority is essential. Social movements are pivotal forces. They work. Abolitionists, labor movements, and civil rights activists proved it.

Collective activism has power. What better time to use it than now. America’s waging political, social, financial, and hot wars. It’s doing it globally. It’s happening at home and abroad. Constitutional protections are disappearing. America’s social contract is being destroyed.

Militarization, permanent wars, and unchallenged global dominance reflect policy. So does police state harshness. Dissent is endangered. Privilege is entrenched. Fundamental freedoms are eroding. Beneficial social change isn’t tolerated.

Electoral politics doesn’t work. Duopoly power runs America. Republicans and Democrats reflect two sides of the same coin. Not a dime’s worth of difference separates them. Throwing out bums assures new ones. It happens every time.

Names and faces change. Policies remain unchanged. They’re longstanding. They’re cruel, malicious and unjust. Washington is too pernicious, corrupt and dysfunctional to fix.

Vital change is needed. Revolution is the only solution. Authority must be challenged disruptively. Doing so requires mobilizing it. Egalitarian reform is essential. Grass roots activism is key. Popular struggles depend on it.

Former Customs and Border Protection Officer Admits to Receiving Bribes to Allow Aliens to Enter the U.S. Illegally

Via: FBI

U.S. Attorney’s Office March 28, 2013
Southern District of California

United States Attorney Laura E. Duffy announced that Hector Rodriguez, a former Customs and Border Protection officer, and Gerardo Rodriguez pleaded guilty today in front of Magistrate Judge David Bartick to conspiracy to bring in aliens for financial gain and to receive bribes, bringing in aliens for financial gain, and bribery.

According to court records, defendant Hector Rodriguez agreed that from around 2010 until his arrest on July 13, 2012, he received bribes from co-defendants Gerardo Rodriguez and Maria Guerrero, in the form of cash money, use of luxury vehicles, and use of an apartment, in return for failing to enforce U.S. immigration laws by admitting illegal aliens into the U.S. through his inspection lane at the San Ysidro Port-of-Entry.

Defendant Hector Rodriguez provided his lane assignment information to co-defendants who would then drive vehicles containing illegal aliens from Mexico to the United States through his assigned inspection lane.

On their date of arrest, July 13, 2012, co defendant Gerardo Rodriguez drove a vehicle containing eight illegal aliens, and co-defendant Vanessa Moya drove a vehicle containing six illegal aliens through defendant Hector Rodriguez’s inspection lane.

To conceal the smuggling, defendant Hector Rodriguez would enter into the government database false information about who was driving the vehicle and the number of occupants, thereby concealing the fact that the vehicles contained illegal aliens.

As part of his guilty plea, Defendant Hector Rodriguez has agreed to forfeit a 2009 Jaguar, 12 luxury watches (including five Rolexes), jewelry, televisions, and computers that were obtained as a result of his criminal activity. Co-defendant Gerardo Rodriguez has agreed to forfeit a 2005 Mercedes, 2006 Harley Davidson, $60,000, televisions, and computers that were obtained as a result of his criminal activity.

The defendants are scheduled to appear for sentencing before U.S. District Judge Roger T. Benitez on July 1, 2013, at 9 a.m.

Obama’s New SEC ‘Sheriff.’ No Conflict of Interest When it Comes to Shielding Wall Street’s Pin Striped Mafia

Via: ICH

By Tom Burghardt

March 31, 2013 “Information Clearing House” – One indelible sign of state capture by pirate corporations and the financial jackals holding sway on Wall Street and the City of London is the ease with which former “regulators” slip into plum positions with the firms whom they supposedly “regulated” as “public servants.”

While the drone kill-crazy Obama regime has done yeoman’s work cementing in place extra-constitutional policies first enacted by the Bush gang–only to exceed Bushist depredations by a whole order of magnitude–kool-aid sipping “progressives” and troglodytic “conservatives” have given the president a free pass when it comes to policing the financial criminals who blew up the world economy.

But when it comes to US spy agencies probing and sweeping up your financial information, well, the sky’s the limit!

As Reuters reported last week, the administration “is drawing up plans” to give securocrats “full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document.”

That Treasury plan would give secret state apparatchiks, including those ensconced at CIA, NSA and the Pentagon free reign to rummage through the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network’s (FinCEN) massive database of “suspicious activity reports” routinely filed by “banks, securities dealers, casinos and money and wire transfer agencies.” The FBI and DHS already have full access to that database under the Orwellian USA Patriot Act.

Under the proposal, FinCen data will be linked “with a computer network used by US defense and law enforcement agencies to share classified information called the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System,” according to Reuters.

And since requirements for filing SARs are “so strict,” banks often “over-report,” this “raises the possibility that the financial details of ordinary citizens could wind up in the hands of spy agencies,” where it will live in perpetuity, “criminal evidence, ready for use in a trial,” as Cryptohippie famously warned.

Got that? While Wall Street drug banks are handled with care because of the “collateral consequences” that might result from a criminal referral for laundering billions of narco-dollars, the average citizen’s financial data will be fair game.

Which brings us back to Obama’s anemic regulatory regime and the “sheriffs” eager to do the bankster’s bidding.

David Stockman: We’ve Been Lied To, Robbed, And Misled

Via: PeakProsperity

And we’re still at risk of it happening all over again

by Adam Taggart
Saturday, March 30, 2013, 12:42 PM

Then, when the Fed’s fire hoses started spraying an elephant soup of liquidity injections in every direction and its balance sheet grew by $1.3 trillion in just thirteen weeks compared to $850 billion during its first ninety-four years, I became convinced that the Fed was flying by the seat of its pants, making it up as it went along. It was evident that its aim was to stop the hissy fit on Wall Street and that the thread of a Great Depression 2.0 was just a cover story for a panicked spree of money printing that exceeded any other episode in recorded human history.
-David Stockman, The Great Deformation

David Stockman, former director of the OMB under President Reagan, former US Representative, and veteran financier is an insider’s insider. Few people understand the ways in which both Washington DC and Wall Street work and intersect better than he does.

In his upcoming book, The Great Deformation: The Corruption of Capitalism in America, Stockman lays out how we have devolved from a free market economy into a managed one that operates for the benefit of a privileged few. And when trouble arises, these few are bailed out at the expense of the public good.

By manipulating the price of money through sustained and historically low interest rates, Greenspan and Bernanke created an era of asset mis-pricing that inevitably would need to correct. And when market forces attempted to do so in 2008, Paulson et al hoodwinked the world into believing the repercussions would be so calamitous for all that the institutions responsible for the bad actions that instigated the problem needed to be rescued — in full — at all costs.

Cypriot Banks in Politician Loan Scandal

Via: Enet English

A list of Cypriot politicians who reportedly had millions in loans to Cypriot banks forgiven is published in Greece

Friday 29 March 2013

There is already anger on the island that loans with the Bank of Cyprus, Laiki Bank and Hellenic Bank often running into the hundreds of thousands – and, in one case, millions of euros – have allegedly been wiped out.

The list, reported in Friday’s Ethnos newspaper and which has been handed to the Cypriot parliament’s ethics committee, includes the names of politicians from Cyprus’ biggest parties (excluding the socialist EDEK and the Greens).

Questions are being asked as to why banks at which – in the case of Bank of Cyprus and Laiki – deposits of above €100,000 face a levy of an estimated 40% apparently forgave the loans of politicians and other senior figures in the country’s public administration.

According to information acquired by Enet.gr, the list was originally leaked by the Cypriot parliament to a member of the European Parliament, and subsequently to journalists in America, before arriving in Greek hands.

Letter to the Editor: Don’t Let Corporate Masters Destroy UT

Via: Independent Collegian

By Zachary I. Rasey
Published: Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Our University is in financial trouble and Supreme Commander Scarborough’s nefarious plan to save us from a financial crash is egregious for students. The provost’s budget, which I painstakingly drudged through, labels students as “customers” who need to be “marketable outputs” to the economy. Scarborough, along with Lord Jacobs, has colluded with Wall Street to write the report. In the budget power point, Moody’s Investment Services is quoted several times. That is, our Supreme Commander has used the advice from the very blood sucking corporation that contributed to the financial collapse of 2008 causing a global recession.

I do not have retrograde amnesia. I haven’t forget how our parents lost their mortgages and their retirements — have you forgotten? What will our Lord and masters do to our education and our higher educational system?

If a large, powerful corporation is allowed to inflict the business model view of higher education upon our institution, we will have a dystopic vision on the purpose of education that is skewed toward the advancement of the production of cheap laborers who are incapable of thinking abstractly. Student’s stamped-out, watered-down degrees will be nothing more than technical training for the workforce — not for a more just, equal, collective, peaceful society. After all, higher education’s purpose is: social mobility for the lower economic class, self-awareness, meta-cognition, and creating free-willed citizens capable of the abstract thought processes and reasoning that is required to be an active participant in Democracy and in society.

Now, “Imagine 2017” when the privatizing of our University will continue to keep the poor from reaching higher consciousness and create robotic technocrats incapable of functioning properly in community with other human beings. This will bankrupt us further foisting upon us (the taxpayer or the students) the bill as the administrators abscond with our money and create further inequities. The humanities and arts will be lost in a way that slowly squeezes them out of higher education completely. Combining the traditional liberal arts studies by first integrating them with other more “employment oriented” classes is just a strategy to eliminate them entirely.

Nuclear Reactor Design Chosen – Not Because It Was Safe – But Because It Worked On Navy Submarines

Via: WashingtonsBlog

Posted on June 20, 2011

Virtually all of the nuclear reactors in the U.S. are of the same archaic design as those at Fukushima (Indeed, MSNBC notes that there are 23 U.S. reactors which are more or less identical to those at Fukushima.)

Called “light-water reactors”, this design was not chosen for safety reasons. Rather, it was chosen because it worked in Navy submarines.

Specifically, as the Atlantic reported in March:

In the early years of atomic power, as recounted by Alvin Weinberg, head of Oak Ridge National Laboratory in his book The First Nuclear Era, there was intense competition to come up with the cheapest, safest, best nuclear reactor design.

Every variable in building an immensely complex industrial plant was up for grabs: the nature of the radioactive fuel and other substances that form the reactor’s core, the safety systems, the containment buildings, the construction substances, and everything else that might go into building an immensely complex industrial plant. The light water reactor became the technological victor, but no one is quite sure whether that was a good idea.

Few of these alternatives were seriously investigated after light water reactors were selected for Navy submarines by Admiral Hyman Rickover. Once light water reactors gained government backing and the many advantages that conferred, other designs could not break into the market, even though commercial nuclear power wouldn’t explode for years after Rickover’s decision. “There were lots and lots of ideas floating around, and they essentially lost when light water came to dominate,” University of Strasbourg professor Robin Cowan told the Boston Globe in an excellent article on “technological lock-in” in the nuclear industry.

As it turned out, there were real political and corporate imperatives to commercialize nuclear power with whatever designs were already to hand. It was geopolitically useful for the United States to show they could offer civilian nuclear facilities to its allies and the companies who built the plants (mainly GE and Westinghouse) did not want to lose the competitive advantage they’d gained as the contractors on the Manhattan Project.

Those companies stood to make much more money on nuclear plants than traditional fossil fuel-based plants, and they had less competitors. The invention and use of the atomic bomb weighed heavily on the minds of nuclear scientists. Widespread nuclear power was about the only thing that could redeem their role in the creation of the first weapon with which it was possible to destroy life on earth. In other words, the most powerful interest groups surrounding the nuclear question all wanted to settle on a power plant design and start building.
***
President Lyndon Johnson and his administration sent the message that we were going to use nuclear power, and it would be largely through the reactor designs that already existed, regardless of whether they had the best safety characteristics that could be imagined. [Nixon also fired the main government scientist developing safer types of reactors, because he was focused on safety instead of sticking with Nixon’s favored reactors.] We learned in later years that boiling water reactors like Fukushima are subject to certain types of failure under very unusual circumstances, but we probably would have discovered such problems if we’d explored the technical designs for longer before trying to start building large numbers of nuclear plants.

Stunning Facts About How the Banking System Really Works … And How It Is Destroying America

Via: Washingtons Blog

Posted on March 27, 2013

Reclaiming the Founding Fathers’ Vision of Prosperity

To understand the core problem in America today, we have to look back to the very founding of our country.

The Founding Fathers fought for liberty and justice. But they also fought for a sound economy and freedom from the tyranny of big banks:

“[It was] the poverty caused by the bad influence of the English bankers on the Parliament which has caused in the colonies hatred of the English and . . . the Revolutionary War.”
– Benjamin Franklin

“There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.”
– John Adams

“All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from the downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation.”
– John Adams

“If the American people ever allow the banks to control issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers occupied”.

— Thomas Jefferson

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies…The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the Government, to whom it properly belongs.”

– Thomas Jefferson

“The Founding Fathers of this great land had no difficulty whatsoever understanding the agenda of bankers, and they frequently referred to them and their kind as, quote, ‘friends of paper money. They hated the Bank of England, in particular, and felt that even were we successful in winning our independence from England and King George, we could never truly be a nation of freemen, unless we had an honest money system. ”

-Peter Kershaw, author of the 1994 booklet “Economic Solutions”

Indeed, everyone knows that the American colonists revolted largely because of taxation without representation and related forms of oppression by the British. See this and this. But – according to Benjamin Franklin and others in the thick of the action – a little-known factor was actually the main reason for the revolution.

Risk – It’s Not Just A Board Game

Via: ZeroHedge

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/30/2013

“The world is a very risky place right now for an investor,” is the cautious manner in which Grant Williams (of Things That Make You Go Hhmm infamy) begins this excellent presentation, even though he notes that “the general perception is that there is very little risk,” as all markets from equities to bonds (and even risk itself) are priced as though 2007/8 never happened. It appears, Williams notes, given the market’s perceptions that, “all the problems are behind us.” He chides, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” Williams focuses on the corruption of traditional price signals by Central Banks’ ZIRP (and LSAP) policies, financial repression, and the possibility that the gold leasing market is about to fall apart – because one of these days, someone is going to ask for their gold back and be told they can’t have it.

“By definition, risk-takers often fail. So do morons. In practice it’s difficult to sort them out.”

Obama’s Cyber Nuke Dream, Petraeus’ Love Child: Plus Message for US Congressman Hunter

Via: Cryptome

by John Stanton

“Cyber Warfare, Cyber Security and massive Cyber Attacks are alarmist and vastly overrated. Look at what is going on in Cyprus. What could trigger a run on the banks in the United States? Something as simple as shutting down all the ATM’s for three days. The resulting panic and long bank lines could irrevocably shake confidence in banks and financial institutions, as Americans find out the significance of all the paperwork they signed when they established their banks accounts, fed by direct deposits. Since many in the country know what the country was like before personal computers and the Internet, they’ll do fine. Those people who have exchanged their hearts and brains for computer chips manufactured in Vietnam, and are tethered to Smart Phones and the Cloud, are due for a very rude awakening. You’ve heard of sleeper agents and moles haven’t you? I wonder how many sleeper programs are in the millions of computer chips that are now in every single facet of our lives.”

“The US Army Secretary [McHugh] states that the program converted to DA Civilian and military positions.

That was true up till a year ago but now the program is back to being filled by contractors. Why is that?

Likely due to having so many legal problems getting rid of people – good and bad. If the separate commands want a social science capability they can build their own team like CENTCOM did. They can provide the funding and the oversight. So many less issues that way and quite the savings! Though I agree with the intent of McHugh’s letter – to save an HTS type capability, I disagree with the saving the HTS program. McHugh sites ‘commanders’ assessments’ as reason to save the program. I doubt these assessments or at least their true value.

The House Armed Services Committee should have one of their educated staffers send a request to the team’s in theater requesting them to send in the products they have provided their current units for the last six months. A review of such products would show that a majority of such are just regurgitation’s of other products and lack any real operationally relevant info that was used in the day-to-day business of the units. The reason is very few, if any, HTS members have left their forward operating bases in the last 6-12 months to do what the program was designed to do. And now that US forces are handing over battle space to their Afghan partners, HTS work is for the most part limited to data-mining the internet and creating what the commanders ask for to support their desired course of action.”

And they rave about the performances on New York City’s Broadway?

Raise the Black Flag, Commence Cutting Throats of Secretkeepers, March 30, 2013

By John Young “Cryptome” (New York, NY)

This review is from: Deep State: Inside the Government Secrecy Industry (Kindle Edition)

The least protected, most Wall Street billboarded, secret is that war is immensely profitable to those shrewd enough to avoid the carnage while being generously rewarded by wartime picking of citizen wallets, aided by ridiculously paid safe-at-home shills celebrating valor and sacrifice (market boom, Zero Dark Thirty ilk, ex-SEAL chest-beaters).

The open-dirty-secret secrecy industry exposed in Deep State is as rouged as war harlotry, as venal as political campaigns, as crass as high-brass military coins, as formulaicly vulgar as thanking troops for service, as duplicitous as veterans’ filthy hospitals and always delayed, cropped and denied benefits.
Top leaders lust for secretly sharing means and methods to exploit the bottom, so gather to swap kisses with PR whores in Aspen, Bilderberg and Davos. They serve on secrecy-slathered advisory boards of governments, rotate through government offices, eroticize military contracting officers with promises of future triple-dipping benefits.

Read Deep State to be informed, galvanized and bold-heartened to raise the black flag, commence cutting throats of secretkeepers.

Ex-Schools Chief in Atlanta Is Indicted in Testing Scandal

Via: NY Times

By MICHAEL WINERIP
Published: March 29, 2013

During his 35 years as a Georgia state investigator, Richard Hyde has persuaded all sorts of criminals — corrupt judges, drug dealers, money launderers, racketeers — to turn state’s evidence, but until Jackie Parks, he had never tried to flip an elementary school teacher.

It worked.

In the fall of 2010, Ms. Parks, a third-grade teacher at Venetian Hills Elementary School in southwest Atlanta, agreed to become Witness No. 1 for Mr. Hyde, in what would develop into the most widespread public school cheating scandal in memory.

Ms. Parks admitted to Mr. Hyde that she was one of seven teachers — nicknamed “the chosen” — who sat in a locked windowless room every afternoon during the week of state testing, raising students’ scores by erasing wrong answers and making them right. She then agreed to wear a hidden electronic wire to school, and for weeks she secretly recorded the conversations of her fellow teachers for Mr. Hyde.

In the two and a half years since, the state’s investigation reached from Ms. Parks’s third-grade classroom all the way to the district superintendent at the time, Beverly L. Hall, who was one of 35 Atlanta educators indicted Friday by a Fulton County grand jury.

Dr. Hall, who retired in 2011, was charged with racketeering, theft, influencing witnesses, conspiracy and making false statements. Prosecutors recommended a $7.5 million bond for her; she could face up to 45 years in prison.

During the decade she led the district of 52,000 children, many of them poor and African-American, Atlanta students often outperformed wealthier suburban districts on state tests.

Those test scores brought her fame — in 2009, the American Association of School Administrators named her superintendent of the year and Arne Duncan, the secretary of education, hosted her at the White House.

And fortune — she earned more than $500,000 in performance bonuses while superintendent.

On Friday, prosecutors essentially said it really was too good to be true. Dr. Hall and the 34 teachers, principals and administrators “conspired to either cheat, conceal cheating or retaliate against whistle-blowers in an effort to bolster C.R.C.T. scores for the benefit of financial rewards associated with high test scores,” the indictment said, referring to the state’s Criterion-Referenced Competency Test.

One would think that certain truths are obvious by now.

It should be obvious, for example, that there are consequences to living beyond your means.

It should be obvious that there are consequences to a long history of spending unsustainably and accumulating mountains of debt.

And it should be obvious that there are consequences to dealing with such problems by spending more and accumulating even more debt.

It should be obvious. But it’s not.

In Europe, politicians are hailing their responses to the Cyprus crisis as a success. They pretend like everything is OK, notwithstanding the capital controls now imposed.

That Physical Gold You Thought You Owned? You Didn’t

Via: ZeroHedge

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/27/2013

Earlier today, the CFTC issued an order and charges against two Boca Raton companies, (Joseph Glenn Commodities LLC and JGCF LLC, and their owners Scott Newcom and Anthony Pulieri) which accused the abovementioned of engaging in illegal, fraudulent off-exchange financed transactions in precious metals with retail customers, and also ordered them to pay over $1 million in restitution payments. Superficially, it would have been any other run-off-the-mill CFTC wristslap against an entity that is deemed not TBTF, and thus systematically relevant, in the parlance of the DOJ (unlike the Jon Corzines of the world, who are perpetually absolved of all crimes – actual and alleged), if only it wasn’t for one small clarification at the end of the body.

The relevant section is bolded below:

The CFTC Order finds that from July 2011 through June 2012, the Respondents solicited retail customers, generally by telephone or through Joseph Glenn’s website, to buy physical precious metals such as gold, silver, copper, platinum, or palladium in what are known as off-exchange leverage transactions. According to the Order, the customers paid the Respondents a portion of the purchase price for the metals, and Joseph Glenn and JGCF purportedly financed the remainder of the purchase price, while charging the customers interest on the amount they purportedly loaned to customers.

[T]he CFTC Order states that when Joseph Glenn and JGCF engaged in these illegal transactions they were acting as dealers for a metals merchant called Hunter Wise Commodities, LLC (Hunter Wise), which the CFTC charged with fraud and other violations in federal court in Florida on December 5, 2012 (see CFTC Press Release 6447-12). Hunter Wise was purportedly Joseph Glenn’s and JGCF’s source for the metal and the loans. As alleged in the CFTC Complaint against Hunter Wise and according to the CFTC Order in this case, however, neither Joseph Glenn, JGCF, nor Hunter Wise purchased or held metal on the customers’ behalf, or disbursed any funds to finance the remaining balance of the purchase price. The Order finds that the Respondents’ customers thus never owned, possessed, or received title to the physical commodities that they believed they purchased.

Lockheed Martin: First in Federal Funding, First in Government Fraud

Via: Corporate Greed Chronicles

November 25, 2011

Part 1 of 4: Lockheed Martin, First in Federal Funding

Lockheed Martin is by many measures the U.S. government’s top contractor, raking in $16.7 billion in new contracts related to “IT products and services, systems integration, telecommunications, professional services and engineering services” in 2010 alone.

And that is only a fraction of what they bank as the top defense contractor at the Pentagon, where on any given day they announce billions in new contracts awarded to Lockheed Martin and other members of the Military Industrial Complex.

“True, Lockheed Martin doesn’t actually run the U.S. government, but sometimes it seems as if it might as well. After all, it received $36 billion in government contracts in 2008 alone, more than any company in history. It now does work for more than two dozen government agencies from the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy to the Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency. It’s involved in surveillance and information processing for the CIA, the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the National Security Agency (NSA), the Pentagon, the Census Bureau, and the Postal Service.”

“Oh, and Lockheed Martin has even helped train those friendly Transportation Security Administration agents who pat you down at the airport. Naturally, the company produces cluster bombs, designs nuclear weapons, and makes the F-35 Lightning (an overpriced, behind-schedule, underperforming combat aircraft that is slated to be bought by customers in more than a dozen countries) – and when it comes to weaponry, that’s just the start of a long list. In recent times, though, it’s moved beyond anything usually associated with a weapons corporation and has been virtually running its own foreign policy, doing everything from hiring interrogators for U.S. overseas prisons (including at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba and Abu Ghraib in Iraq) to managing a private intelligence network in Pakistan and helping write the Afghan constitution.”

Because of Asset Seizures, I am Starting My New Company Outside California

Via: pando daily

By Bryan Goldberg
On March 25, 2013

Today was a bad day. After meeting with my tax accountant, I am now cutting a very large check to the State of California, all of which resulted from Proposition 30 and the “retroactive tax” that was levied on my 2012 income.

This despite the fact that I already paid my 2012 taxes back in September.

While the law stipulates that I must surrender this money, I refuse to acknowledge this as a tax at all. This is not a tax. This is an asset seizure plain and simple. The term “retroactive tax” is a despicable euphemism. It is no different than when Hugo Chavez used the benign-sounding “nationalize” to describe his seizure of private property in Venezuela.

Now before I go any further, let me tell you what I am not.

I am not a Tea Party member. I am not even a Republican. Twice I have voted for Barack Obama, and I was supportive of his tax compromise earlier this year. I am not a person who opposes paying taxes, even higher ones. I am a very reasonable person who respects the great opportunity that America has given to me.

But there is a very clear and unambiguous line between taxes — regardless of how high they are — and asset seizures. The State of California has taken money from me. Money that I already earned and paid taxes on, and I will not tolerate this act of theft.

Anatomy of the Bank Run

Via: Ludwig Von Mises Institute

Mises Daily: Monday, March 25, 2013 by Murray N. Rothbard

[This article is featured in chapter 79 of Making Economic Sense by Murray Rothbard and originally appeared in the September, 1985 edition of The Free Market]

It was a scene familiar to any nostalgia buff: all-night lines waiting for the banks (first in Ohio, then in Maryland) to open; pompous but mendacious assurances by the bankers that all is well and that the people should go home; a stubborn insistence by depositors to get their money out; and the consequent closing of the banks by government, while at the same time the banks were permitted to stay in existence and collect the debts due them by their borrowers.

In other words, instead of government protecting private property and enforcing voluntary contracts, it deliberately violated the property of the depositors by barring them from retrieving their own money from the banks.

All this was, of course, a replay of the early 1930s: the last era of massive runs on banks. On the surface the weakness was the fact that the failed banks were insured by private or state deposit insurance agencies, whereas the banks that easily withstood the storm were insured by the federal government (FDIC for commercial banks; FSLIC for savings and loan banks).

Texas Biolab Loses Deadly Guanarito Virus

March 25, 2013

The Galveston National Laboratory lost one of five vials containing a deadly Venezuelan virus, according to the University of Texas Medical Branch, which owns the $174 million facility designed with the strictest security measures to hold the deadliest viruses in the country.

Like Ebola, the missing Guanarito virus causes hemorrhagic fever, an illness named for “bleeding under the skin, in internal organs or from body orifices like the mouth, eyes, or ears,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“This is clearly an incident that is very discomforting and embarrassing to the University of Texas Medical Center and their national biosecurity lab that they have there,” said Dr. William Schaffner, chairman of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. “You can be sure there are a lot of sweating people down the chain at that institution.”

Fortunately, losing a vial of Guanarito is not as threatening as losing a vial of anthrax, said Schaffner, a former president of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases. The virus could theoretically spread between humans, but it usually only spreads between rodents in Venezuela.
