Obama And Francine Wheeler’s New Low

Via: Market-Ticker

Obama Picks Goldman Sachs Exec for Ambassador to Canada

I rarely go after private citizens in my column. Today I’m going to make an exception and the reason is that this person inserted themselves, on their own volition, into an attempt to violate every man, woman and child’s fundamental right to life. By doing so they have turned themselves into public figures and as such lose any such pretense of “privacy” in their opinion nor do they have a legitimate shield from the equally-public response by those who they offend.

I speak of Francine Wheeler, specifically, who Obama trotted out this morning like a puppet to try to press for more “gun control.”

“I feel Ben’s presence filling me with courage for what I have to do – for him and all the others taken from us so violently and too soon,” Wheeler said in the address, which was broadcast on radio stations and streamed on the Internet.

“But that’s only the start,” Wheeler said. “They haven’t yet passed any bills that will help keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people. And a lot of people are fighting to make sure they never do.”

Gun Law Drafted In Secret

Via: Daily Caller

By Alan Korwin, Author; Gun Laws of America, GunLaws.com

Bans Firearms Public Already Owns

State retains power to own all especially deadly guns

Forces federal agents to either violate state law or deny civil rights

Effectively immediately

That’s not the way networks covered it, is it, but identical story

Can you imagine what a tough uphill struggle the anti-gun-rights people would have if the “news” media wasn’t falling all over itself to support the anti-rights side?

Connecticut just drafted 138 pages of gun law basically in secret, enacted it before it could be read and digested by those who signed it — and certainly not by the public it pretends to legitimately control — and in doing so ended up requiring federally licensed agents in the state to violate federal law, or flatly deny citizens their rights. Just on practical grounds this is a disaster. But that’s as if nothing, according to leading experts.

Legislators who draft laws in secret are behaving like the king’s men who ignited the American Revolution. They can expect no less if they continue down such a dark road, many experts say.

What did the officials choose to draft law against by this nefarious method? Only the very palladium of liberty, the very thing the Revolution warned us to guard against, a bill to reduce and actually eliminate a right for keeping and bearing arms the public already legally keeps.

Along with a list of many of the most popular makes and models in use today, the bill includes broad descriptions of arms to cover an untold number of other modern and older firearms. Are they out of their minds?

Beretta Leaves Maryland Because of Stricter Gun Laws

Via: Opposing Views

By Dabney Bailey, Thu, April 04, 2013

New legislation is forcing gun manufacturing company Beretta to uproot and take their business elsewhere.

Established in 1526, Beretta holds the distinction of being the oldest active firearms manufacturer in the world. The U.S. factory is located in Accokeek, Maryland, and has been a staple of the local economy for years.

Beretta warned that stricter gun control laws would push the company outside of state lines, but that didn’t stop Maryland legislators. Jeffrey Reh, a spokesman for Beretta who also serves as the President of Stoeger Industries under Beretta, announced that the company would begrudgingly uproot and take its business elsewhere. He said, “We don’t want to do this, we’re not willing to do this, but obviously this legislation has caused us a serious level of concern within our company.”

He added that Beretta paid approximately $31 million in taxes, employs 400 people, and had invested $73 million in the business over the past several decades. Despite being such a prominent player in the local economy, Beretta was unable to prevent legislators from passing tighter gun control laws. Ironically, Beretta manufactures some firearms that are now banned in Maryland.

Republican state Delegate Anthony J. O’Donnell lamented: “Losing [Beretta] would be a big disappointment. Maryland has a reputation for having a horrible business climate, and this would be one more nail in the coffin.”

Legislators had ample warning. Back in the ‘90s, when Maryland beefed up gun control laws, Beretta moved one of its warehouses a short drive away to Virginia.

Beretta’s bold move is regrettable but understandable. Reh told reporters, “Why expand in a place where the people who built the gun couldn’t buy it?”

Serbu Firearms Tells NYPD To Pound Sand

XXXX,
Yes, I got the message and tried to return the call but got no answer. I appreciate your interest in our BFG-50A; I’m sure it would be an excellent addition to your department’s arsenal. Unfortunately, we have a policy of selling to state law enforcement agencies only what is allowed to be sold to private citizens in that state. Since the passage of the NY SAFE act, the BFG-50A is considered an assault weapon and as such is no longer available to private citizens in the state of New York. Therefore we have to respectfully decline to supply your department with BFG-50A rifles.

Good for them. Ronnie Barrett started this and a lot of others have jumped on the bandwagon.

Can the Right to Forcefully Defend One’s Own Life — Really be Canceled by Government?

Kelly OConnell Sunday, March 17, 2013

The right to own weapons in America is under ever-increasing scrutiny and pressure, with constant demands for a blockade against such an antiquated notion. The recurrent specter of massacres which are endlessly replayed upon mainstream news stations only add to the sense that the US Constitution is an old instrument completely out of tune with the modern tenor.

According to the Center for Disease Control, there were 11,078 firearm homicides last year in America.

And yet when one ponders the hundreds of millions murdered arbitrarily, in just the last century, by governments refusing to accept civil rights—it gives one pause.

Further, certainly guns stop a large number of crimes each year, with one writer estimating upwards of 12 million serious crimes in America. Certainly the number of stopped crimes is in the millions. And is this not better than being defenseless at home when a burglar breaks in and the police are many minutes away?

Further, if we claim the Right to Life, Liberty and Happiness does not at least include the right to defend one’s own person against attack, could we possibly be correctly interpreting the Founder’s intent in the Constitution and Declaration?

Did these brilliant men really expect law-abiding Americans to flush their rights down the commode and refuse to defend themselves to the point of suicidal non-resistance?

Church Celebrates 2nd Amendment, Kids Make Pop-Tart Guns During Sunday School

Via: Saving Our Future

This past Sunday, a Chicago area church sponsored a Second Amendment Sunday filled with “assault” pop-tarts, “combat” cupcakes and a sheet-cake that featured a chocolate semi-automatic Glock handgun with a quote from Jesus that read “Blessed are the peacemakers.”  John Kirkwood, Pastor of Grace-Gospel Fellowship in Bensenville Illinois said the idea came to him after reading a column by Doug Giles entitled “Christian Parents Should Have Their Kids Play With Toy Guns.”

“Giles has a way of exposing the absurdity of the left,” said Kirkwood, “his article was in response to some Pastor from St. Louis and his ‘toy gun’ buyback program.   That and the news about 7 year olds getting suspended for threatening pop-tarts and menacing cupcakes led me to stand up for true American values and the Biblical wisdom that underlies them.”

The Pastor, referring to two recent cases in which a pop-tart shaped like a handgun and cupcakes topped by plastic soldiers brought on what many felt was over-the-top school discipline, decided to respond in kind.

Legislator Introduces Bill Banning Kids Under 12 From Attending Gun Shows

Via: The Mental Recession

On March 14, 2013, in Gun Control, New York, by Rusty Weiss

You’ll shoot your eye out kid!

Or at least that’s what one Assemblywoman must believe of children that attend gun shows with their family.

Linda Rosenthal (D) has introduced a new bill that would ban children under 12 from attending a gun show in New York state.

Via the Times Union (the sarcasm is fantastic):

The bill was put forward by Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, who hails from that trackless wilderness and sportsmen’s paradise known as Manhattan.

“Children should be learning to read and write, not to shoot a firearm,” Rosenthal says in a statement, as if the two skills were mutually exclusive. “Today in New York State, however, a child of any age can gain unfettered access to gun shows. We as a society have placed reasonable restrictions on the ages at which children may watch violent films” — clearly, Rosenthal does not have premium cable — “or play video games that involve hyper-real gunplay; however, there are no age limits on gun shows. My bill will change that.”

Rosenthal, a Democrat, noted Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s announcement that more gun shows have signed on to his procedural code to strengthen enforcement of existing rules to prevent straw purchases and other violations.

“Along with enhanced procedures for gun show background checks, age restrictions will ensure that children are exposed to guns only after they reach an age where they are capable of grasping the enormity of responsibility gun handling and ownership represents,” said Rosenthal.

Cars too, are dangerous.  One has to reach a certain age before they are capable of “grasping the enormity of responsibility” of handling a vehicle.  Should car shows be banned too?

Say, Ms. Rosenthal.  You represent the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City.  You mentioned that children should “be learning to read and write”.  You know where children find it very difficult to read and write?  That’s right … in your home town!

A LITTLE GUN CONTROL HISTORY

Via: Email from Reader

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. >From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. >From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total
of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are ‘citizens’. Without them, we are ‘subjects’.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this antigun-control message to all of your friends.

On March 4, despite hundreds of Coloradans flooding the State Capitol in Denver and honking horns on the streets that encircle the building all day long, and the presence of 25 county sheriffs opposed to seven Democratic gun-control proposals, the measures all passed the Colorado House along party-line votes. Democrats currently control both houses of the Colorado legislature, as well as the governor’s office.

Legislators’ testimony during the hearings was replete with smug, ignorant sanctimony, blithering idiocy and outright lies.

The Democrat members of the Colorado legislature have shown themselves to be enemies of the Constitution of the United States of America and the people of the state of Colorado. What occurred in Colorado on that day was nothing short of a disgusting outrage and a chilling precursor of things to come.

Just What The Hell Is Going On? All Police Records On Sandy Hook Shooting Sealed, Media Denied Access

Via: Pat Dollard

Mar 5, 2013 Pat Dollard

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — There is no doubt who is responsible for the Newtown school massacre. The shooter is dead and the prosecutor handling the case has said he does not expect any charges.

Yet authorities are continuing to keep search warrants and police records secret. Media outlets have pressed for the release of more records, which could shed light on a crime that has revived the national debate over gun control and could change the way guns are regulated.

The massacre has led to proposals for universal background checks on gun buyers and bans on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. It also prompted reviews of school security and mental health care and led to proposed legislation in Connecticut that would forbid arcades and other establishments from allowing children under 18 to play point-and-shoot video games.

What will happen if Obama Orders the U.S. Military to Confiscate Guns in America?

Via: World News Magazine

USA 5 March 2013. It is time for Americans to start thinking seriously about the possibility that their sons and daughters may be put in the untenable position going house-to-house, confiscating firearms and ammunition from their friends and family? What will they do?

Throughout the military – the kids, grandkids, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends of veterans and gun enthusiasts are likely weighing the possibilities of such an order and just how far they personally would be willing to go in carrying out something that would rip the very fabric of this nation apart and go against everything they’ve sworn to protect.

In thinking the unthinkable, certainly they must be questioning the end game and who are the real good guys. Especially, when they see this President fail to pay homage to the recent death of the greatest American Sniper in history, Chris Kyle. When they see this Commander in Chief fail to engage while our Ambassador in Benghazi and former Navy Seals are in the fight of their lives, wouldn’t a reasonable soldier reevaluate Obama’s fidelity to the code – we leave no one behind. When Janet Napolitano’s Homeland Security Report labels returning Veterans and Tea Party people as potential terrorists, one has to ask what the heck is going on. When they see towns putting in place plans for confiscation of firearms from the “unruly” during emergency, when veterans are receiving letters deeming them incompetent to own firearms without due process – aren’t those in service wondering if they themselves will be the ones seen as threats, will they be the “unruly” that towns are talking about?

Will soldiers look closely if they are ordered to search American families’ homes? Will most intentionally not see the old double barrel shotgun in the closet of another soldier’s father or grandfather? Will they speak quietly to local veterans and relatives telling them where they might search next? Will enough refuse, making it impossible for those like Hagel, Kerry, Brennan and certain military brass to fully weaken America and her future? The veterans I know understand that the Second Amendment is in fact the keystone of the Constitution and without it – all the others would be put in jeopardy (if not now, then surely in a disarmed future). The Founders certainly understood this, why can’t Obama and his friends?

I don’t know the answer to these questions, but I do know the time is close when each of us will need to choose our paths. It may not be today, but I can see it coming just over the horizon. Can you?

Gun Control Through Deception

Via: Flopping Aces

Wow. With a name like Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorist Act (H.R. 720) who would be opposed right? I mean, is there an act to deny firearms and explosives to peaceful or philanthropic terrorists and the dangerous ones were just slipping through the cracks? Or maybe dangerous terrorists were only denied explosives before and now we need to close the firearms to dangerous terrorists loophole or something.

This bill has been submitted about every other year since 2007 and it’s suffered an anonymous death each time for good reason. But, CJ, how can you be against a bill denying these weapons of mass destruction to people who just want to kill us infidels?!

Here’s the problem, the bill is meant to disarm pretty much anyone the Attorney General wants to designate as a terrorist.

‘The Attorney General may deny the transfer of a firearm…if the Attorney General determines that the transferee is known (or appropriately suspected) to be or have been engaged in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism, or providing material support thereof, and the Attorney General has a reasonable belief that the prospective transferee may use a firearm in connection with terrorism.’ (emphasis mine)

Well, who exactly determines whether someone is “preparing for” an act of terrorism? It would seem that an extremist like Eric Holder would easily deem a patriot “stockpiling” (re: legally purchasing) thousands of rounds of ammunition. Maybe someone that purchases more weapons than the administration is comfortable with one person having may be doing something “related to terrorism.”

To fully understand how this bill could legally target any American the authoritarian Marxists in power deems not worthy of having access to weapons, one first needs to understand how the federal government defines “terrorism” legally. Chapter 44, Section 921 of the United States Code provides those broad definitions.

The term “terrorism” means “activity, directed against United States persons, which (A) is committed by an individual who is not a national or permanent resident alien of the United States; (B) involves violent acts or acts dangerous to human life which would be a criminal violation if committed within the jurisdiction of the United States; and (C) is intended (1)to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (2) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (3) to affect the conduct of a government by assassination or kidnapping.” (emphasis mine)

“But, CJ, according to what you just quoted this doesn’t apply to American citizens. It says right there in (A).”

Oh, yes, that is why this act adds to the definition.

(3) in section 921(a), by adding at the end the following:
‘(36) The term ‘terrorism’ means ‘international terrorism’ as defined in section 2331(1), and ‘domestic terrorism’ as defined in section 2331(5).

There. Fixed that little quirk, didn’t they? As a matter of fact, H.R. 720 adds in “or if the Attorney General has determined” into just about every paragraph of Section 922, which defines “unlawful acts.”

A Gun Tale of Two Cities – Different Laws for Iraq Veteran and a Television ‘Star’

Via: Washington Times

By Emily Miller
Thursday, February 21, 2013

Nathan Haddad, a former Army staff sergeant in New York, was selling his gun magazines when he was arrested for violating a state law prohibiting possession of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. He was arrested and charged with five felonies. This is the crime that David Gregory of NBC News committed in Washington a few months ago; Mr. Gregory was not prosecuted because he’s, umm, well, a celebrity.

The district attorney for Jefferson County, N.Y., offered Sgt. Haddad, now a civilian employee at Fort Drum, N.Y., a deal that would require him to plead guilty to five Class A misdemeanors to avoid going to jail. Sgt. Haddad has several weeks to decide whether to go to trial.

“My first reaction was that I’m going to still be branded as a criminal and probably lose my job,” he told The Washington Times. “The military doesn’t consider a 30-round magazine a weapons system — it is just a component of a weapons system.”

Seth Buchman, Sgt. Haddad’s attorney, said the charges “should not have been brought in the first place.” Under the law, the same ammunition feeding device is legal if it was manufactured before 1994 but a felony if made afterward. The only way to tell the difference is by examining markings stamped on the bottom of some — but not all — magazines. After Sgt. Haddad was arrested, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed still another law, this one reducing the round count from 10 to 7.

Sgt. Haddad said he wasn’t aware he had done anything wrong since he has lived in New York as a civilian only since 2010 when he received a medical discharge from the military. Mr. Gregory, on the other hand, knew he was breaking the law on Dec. 23 when he displayed a 30-round magazine on his Sunday show. He had asked the Metropolitan Police Department for permission in advance, but was refused. D.C. prosecutors said there was no point pursuing charges against the host.

‘Dialogue’ Required for Violent Video Games

Via: TownHall

By Brent Bozell
Feb 22, 2013

The Obama administration’s assault on the Second Amendment in reaction to Newtown is not a serious solution. It’s a Band-Aid on cancer. The NRA’s call for armed guards in every school also misses the point. When is anyone going to get serious? The problem is violence, a violence of monstrous and horrific proportions that has infected America’s popular culture.

The Hartford Courant reported on Sunday that during a search of Newtown grade-school killer Adam Lanza’s home after the shootings, “police found thousands of dollars worth of graphically violent video games.” Detectives are exploring whether Adam Lanza might have been emulating the shooting range or a video game scenario as he moved from room to room at Sandy Hook Elementary.

In California, 20-year-old Ali Syed went on a carjacking and shooting rampage, killing three before turning the gun on himself. Syed was a loner and a “gamer” who spent hours holed up in his room, Orange County authorities said. “He took one class at college, and he did not work, so that gives him most of the day and evening, and most of the time in his free time he was playing video games,” reported county sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino.

After Newtown, President Obama and other officials insisted the country needed a “dialogue” about “gun violence,” but there’s been remarkably little exploration of the role of video games and even less of movie and TV violence.
