Obama And Francine Wheeler’s New Low

Obama Picks Goldman Sachs Exec for Ambassador to Canada

I rarely go after private citizens in my column. Today I’m going to make an exception and the reason is that this person inserted themselves, on their own volition, into an attempt to violate every man, woman and child’s fundamental right to life. By doing so they have turned themselves into public figures and as such lose any such pretense of “privacy” in their opinion nor do they have a legitimate shield from the equally-public response by those who they offend.

I speak of Francine Wheeler, specifically, who Obama trotted out this morning like a puppet to try to press for more “gun control.”

“I feel Ben’s presence filling me with courage for what I have to do – for him and all the others taken from us so violently and too soon,” Wheeler said in the address, which was broadcast on radio stations and streamed on the Internet.

“But that’s only the start,” Wheeler said. “They haven’t yet passed any bills that will help keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people. And a lot of people are fighting to make sure they never do.”

Obama Has Announced a $100-million Brain Mapping Project

Via: io9

Robert T. Gonzalez 4/02/13

President Obama announced plans this morning for a long-term research project to improve our understanding of the brain. Comparing it to the Human Genome Project, Obama said the brain-mapping initiative could lead to cures for diseases like Alzheimer’s and autism, while fueling economic growth and job creation. Here’s what you need to know.

The announcement has been hotly anticipated since mid-February, when The New York Times reported the President would soon seek funds from Congress to “examine the workings of the human brain and build a comprehensive map of its activity, seeking to do for the brain what the Human Genome Project did for genetics.” At the time, we and others speculated that Obama’s plan would resemble a so-called Brain Activity Map (a.k.a. “BAM”) project outlined last year in the journal Neuron, and that the Administration might seek billions of dollars from Congress to set things in motion.

In fact, Obama announced this morning that the project will be called the BRAIN Initiative. The initial price tag: a paltry (relatively speaking) $100 million.

BRAIN stands for “Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies,” and the last word in that acronym is a telling one. When we spoke with Rafael Yuste (one of the neuroscientists whose advice the Obama Administration has sought in planning the initiative) back in February, he told us that the endeavor would be first and foremost “a technical development project.” The ultimate goal of the BRAIN may be to create a functional map of neuron activity throughout the human brain, but charting such a map is – as of today – impossible.

Two Obamas, Two Classes of Children

Via: ICH

By Ralph Nader

The lifeless bodies of Afghan children lay on the ground before their funeral
ceremony, after a NATO airstrike killed several Afghan civilians, including ten children
– Sunday, April 7, 2013. (AP Photo/Naimatullah Karyab)

An Associated Press photograph brought the horror of little children lying dead outside of their home to an American Audience. At least 10 Afghan children and some of their mothers were struck down by an airstrike on their extended family household by order of President Barack Obama. He probably decided on what his aides describe as the routine weekly “Terror Tuesday” at the White House. On that day, Mr. Obama typically receives the advice about which “militants” should live or die thousands of miles away from drones or aircraft. Even if households far from war zones are often destroyed in clear violation of the laws of war, the president is not deterred.

These Obama airstrikes are launched knowing that very often there is “collateral damage,” that is a form of “so sorry terrorism.” How can the president explain the vaporization of a dozen pre-teen Afghan boys collecting firewood for their families on a hillside? The local spotter-informants must have been disoriented by all those $100 bills in rewards. Imagine a direct strike killing and injuring scores of people in a funeral procession following a previous fatal strike that was the occasion of this processional mourning. Remember the December 2009 Obama strike on an alleged al-Qaida training camp in Yemen, using tomahawk missiles and – get this – cluster bombs, that killed 14 women and 21 children. Again and again “so sorry terrorism” ravages family households far from the battlefields.

If this is a war, why hasn’t Congress declared war under Article 1, Sec. 8 of the U.S. Constitution? The 2001 Congressional Authorization to Use Military Force is not an open-ended authorization for the president. It was restricted to targeting only nations, organizations or persons that are determined to have been implicated in the 9/11 massacres, or harbored complicit organizations or persons.

Doesn’t this bother anyone else?

People… If you don’t speak out and try to change the actions of our leaders you are complicit to the murder of women and children…

Through our actions as a country, we are creating the hate and ultimately the results…

It is just a matter of time until children here get murdered the same way. Who will you blame then?

The image of the military as being good and necessary is a farce.

The people have been culturally programmed to believe that we need this giant, out of control, military force.  And that we all owe those that serve and have served in the armed forces…For taking part in legitimatized murder, for money, at the orders and whims of political leaders? For creating and fomenting turmoil and killing all over the planet? For protecting our freedom and democracy?

And I am not saying the people that proudly serve in the armed forces are bad, I’m saying the reasons for their actions are wrong…(based on lies)!

And we are so hooked on the business of killing..Lockheed, Boeing,Raytheon, Dell, Dupont, etc.. The people that work at the companies and industries that support the military/industrial complex are especially complicit!

I know they work at what are some, if not most, of the decent paying jobs, but C’mon…And the money that goes to pay for all this could be used for something positive for all of us, instead of lining the pockets of a few..

Wake up!  Every moment of your life you are being lied to as to what is really going on in our government, economy, world, etc…

Just sayin…

Obama Naturalized as a U.S. Citizen in 1983

Via: Sven Magnussen

by Sven Magnussen

RE: Bill O’Reilly, Fox News, on The O’Reilly Factor editorializes on the need for President Obama to disclose the U.S. Government assistance he has received as he rose to power to become the Commander in Chief of the United States of America and President of the United States.

In a blog post and on his Fox News television show, The O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly said:
But President Obama himself has a very compelling story to tell. His father abandoned him. He was raised primarily by his maternal grandparents in Hawaii. He had few resources. Yet, Barack Obama rose up to become the most powerful man in the world, a stunning achievement. How much the system helped Mr. Obama is unknown, as his college records have been kept private. We don’t know the extent of affirmative action. We don’t know how much the government subsidized his climb to the top. It would be very helpful to have that information simply to be fair to the President and his vision.

In truth, Obama’s background is more than compelling. It’s a tragedy. In 1971, Barry Soetoro, son of Lolo Soetoro and Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro, arrived at Hawaii International Airport as an unaccompanied minor with Indonesian Nationality. Minors with foreign nationality are not whisked through customs with a hope and a prayer by customs officers the child will not become a victim of child trafficking. Unaccompanied minors with foreign nationality arriving at any port of entry in the U.S. are taken into protective custody and held until a child welfare hearing is held to determine what is in the best interest of the child.

We know from Obama’s vital statistics, published and archived by the Hawaii Department of Health, he was born in Honolulu, HI on August 4, 1961 as the son of Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham. The Soetoro adoption was finalized in Hawaii after Lolo and Stanley Ann were wed. Obama’s original long form birth certificate was sealed and archived after a Court order to seal it. A Certificate of Live Birth for Barry Soetoro, son of Lolo Soetoro and Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro, was created and filed as part of the finalized adoption order.

In 1968, Secretary of State Dean Rusk issued Barry Soetoro, a/k/a Barack Hussein Obama II, a Certificate of Loss of Nationality so Barry Soetoro could naturalize as an Indonesian National. Obama’s mother had attested on her U.S. Passport renewal she intended to stay in Indonesia indefinately (sic). In 1971, Barry Soetoro was taken into protective custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. His legal custody was transferred to Catholic Social Services of Connecticut while his grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, was appointed his legal guardian.

US Teargas Arrives in Egypt for Muslim Brotherhood Use

Via: The Commentator

Teargas canisters from the United States have been sold to Egypt, arriving on Sunday in the Abadeya port in Suez

9 April 2013 10:39

A shipment of teargas canisters from the United States arrived at the Egyptian Abadeya Port in Suez on Sunday, according to official documents obtained by the Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper.

Five containers carrying around 140,000 teargas canisters were apparently shipped to the Egyptian Interior Ministry by the Aramex International courier service.

The Egypt Independent reports that the shipping documents state that only the Egyptian government may use the canisters, and that they are forbidden to re-export the shipment or sell it to third parties.

The Economic Ignorance of Barack Obama

Via: Defining Ideas

April 9, 2013
by Richard A. Epstein

If we want better jobs numbers, we need to deregulate labor markets.

One story has dominated the economic news this past weekend. The story is that job creation has slowed to a “trickle,” in the words of a Wall Street Journal headline. Only 88,000 new jobs were created in the month of March. That feeble rate was accompanied by the “good” news that the jobless rate, which only counts those actively seeking work as unemployed, had dropped from 7.7 to 7.6 percent.

The real news was that the decline in the unemployment rate was explained by the separation of nearly half a million people from the workforce, so that labor-force participation shrunk from about 67.3 percent in early 2000 to about 63.3 percent today. A crude first approximation of the real unemployment rate would add back at least 4 lost percentage points. A more accurate estimation of the actual unemployment rate would account for those individuals who were out of the market by 2000 in part because of the impediments to market performance that were already in place.

With these weak numbers, the political discussion has continued to focus on job creation and economic growth: How should these goals be accomplished? On “All Things Considered,” I heard E.J. Dionne advise that the Federal Reserve should keep its foot on the accelerator, by opening the cash spigot and keeping interest rates at their historic lows. At the same time, the rest of the government should put worries about the deficit aside—or so the argument goes—by increasing public expenditures funded in part through higher taxes on the top one percent. David Brooks rightly disparaged that prescription, but still was unable to identify that “big structural change” he hoped would turn the economy around.

Obama Overrides Congress to Buy $690 Million Worth of Russian Choppers for Afghan Air Force

Via: FrontPage

April 8, 2013 By Daniel Greenfield

Apparently America has too many jobs so Obama will be spending taxpayer money to support Russia’s defense industry on behalf of Afghanistan. And he’s doing so over the bipartisan objections of Congress from both the right and left and a ban on buying them written into the NDAA.

The US Department of Defense said Thursday it plans to sidestep a Congressional ban to purchase 30 helicopters from Russian state-owned defense firm Rosoboronexport, despite objections from US lawmakers who allege that the firm has equipped the Syrian government to commit brutal crimes against civilians.

The 2013 National Defense Authorization Act, approved by Congress last year, includes an amendment that prohibits financial contracts between the United States and Rosoboronexport, except when the Secretary of Defense determines that such arrangements are in the interest of national security.

The contract totals $690 million, most of which would go to the Russian arms maker, he added.

Aside from throwing almost $700 million to a company owned by the Russian government at a time when Obama has taken a chainsaw to the United States military, subsidizing the Russian defense industry helps it develop more weapons that will be sold to America’s enemies.

That money will help fund R&D for the next generation of weapons that an American military dismantled by Obama will be facing on the battlefield.

Rosoboronexport was originally under US sanctions for doing business with Iran until the ban was lifted. Rosoboronexport is still selling advanced weapons to Iran.

And oh yeah, this was a no bid contract.

Here Are 163 Examples of Barack Obama’s Lying, Lawbreaking, Corruption, Cronyism, Hypocrisy, Government Waste, and Other Misdeeds

Via: Dan from Squirrel Hill

In the 2008 United States election, I wrote in Ron Paul for President. In the 2012 election, I voted for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson. Those who are of a more leftist persuasion than myself might want to consider voting for the Green Party in future elections.

Some of the things on this list are major events that should scare the daylights out of any true liberal who cares about civil liberties.

Other things on this list are medium things that some Obama supporters may dislike, but would be willing to overlook in light of the things that Obama has done which they like.

And some of the things on this list may seem trivial, but I still think they are an interesting reflection of the kinds of policies that Obama supports.

Obama Picks Goldman Sachs Exec for Ambassador to Canada

Via: CBC News

If approved, new ambassador would replace David Jacobson

Posted: Apr 3, 2013

U.S. President Barack Obama has selected a partner at the investment firm of Goldman Sachs in Chicago to be the new U.S. ambassador to Canada, CBC News has learned.

Sources tell CBC News Network’s Power & Politics that Bruce Heyman has accepted the job but still has to pass a vetting process in order to be be formally nominated. His confirmation will be up to the U.S. Congress.

If he is approved, Heyman would replace David Jacobson, who has held the position since 2009. Jacobson is also from Chicago.

Well known as a high-level fundraiser to Barack Obama, Heyman and his wife Vicki, also a fundraiser, raised more than $1 million for Obama and were on his national finance committee.

Heyman runs the private wealth fund at Goldman Sachs and his areas of responsibility include parts of Canada.

Sources tell CBC News that although Heyman is Obama’s top choice he still has to pass a rigorous vetting process.

Obama’s Crackdown on Whistleblowers

Via: The Nation

Tim Shorrock
March 26, 2013

In the annals of national security, the Obama administration will long be remembered for its unprecedented crackdown on whistleblowers. Since 2009, it has employed the World War I–era Espionage Act a record six times to prosecute government officials suspected of leaking classified information. The latest example is John Kiriakou, a former CIA officer serving a thirty-month term in federal prison for publicly identifying an intelligence operative involved in torture. It’s a pattern: the whistleblowers are punished, sometimes severely, while the perpetrators of the crimes they expose remain free.

The hypocrisy is best illustrated in the case of four whistleblowers from the National Security Agency: Thomas Drake, William Binney, J. Kirk Wiebe and Edward Loomis. Falsely accused of leaking in 2007, they have endured years of legal harassment for exposing the waste and fraud behind a multibillion-dollar contract for a system called Trailblazer, which was supposed to “revolutionize” the way the NSA produced signals intelligence (SIGINT) in the digital age. Instead, it was canceled in 2006 and remains one of the worst failures in US intelligence history. But the money spent on this privatization scheme, like so much at the NSA, remains a state secret.

The story goes back to 2002, when three of the whistleblowers—Loomis, Wiebe and Binney—asked the Pentagon to investigate the NSA for wasting “millions and millions of dollars” on Trailblazer, which had been chosen as the agency’s flagship system for analyzing intercepted communications over a smaller and cheaper in-house program known as ThinThread. That program was invented by Loomis, one of the NSA’s top software engineers, and Binney, a legendary crypto-scientist, both of whom began working for the NSA during the Vietnam War. But despite ThinThread’s proven capacity to collect actionable intelligence, agency director Gen. Michael Hayden vetoed the idea of deploying the system in August 2001, just three weeks before 9/11.

First Daughters’ Spring Break Part II: Sun Valley

Via: American Thinker

March 30, 2013
Jeannie DeAngelis

Outrageous as it may seem to some, rather than respond appropriately to the criticism and back off from the extravagant vacations, Michelle and Barry chose instead to thumb their noses at America by flying Sasha and Malia from the Atlantis in the Bahamas to Sun Valley, Idaho to top off Easter week with a little skiing.

For those who are shocked, here’s the bottom line: Nothing anyone does or says is going to change who these people are. It is now crystal clear that no amount of public disapproval or disparagement will deter them from spending our money to wantonly indulge themselves as often as they please. After all, in their minds, they’re worth it.

What is also clearly obvious is that if by chance there’s an uptick in criticism of the first family’s endless excesses, their response will be an even more defiant display of conspicuous consumption while the liberal media does their part by accusing critics of racism.

In less than a week, spring break has transported two little girls to the sun and surf of the Bahamas and then scooped them up and ferried them to the cold, powdery Idaho snow! Ah, life is good.

Would somebody please refresh my memory? Didn’t Obama just blame the cancellation of White House tours on Secret Service furloughs? Then, after making schoolchildren cry, he managed to rustle up a kiddie security detail to stand around in Atlantis in swim trunks and then trail Sasha and Malia down the bunny slope in Sun Valley.

And wasn’t it just a few weeks ago that these girls and their mother shut down Aspen, Colorado? How many otherwise-furloughed Secret Service personnel were assigned to that little excursion? Apparently, Mrs. Obama, and to a lesser extent her husband, must fancy themselves full-fledged ‘celebrities.’ After all, “Sun Valley is known to be a getaway for celebrity.” The irony is that it’s America that needs to get away from the Obamas.

Nonetheless, thanks to another blank check compliments of the American taxpayer, “The Sun Valley Ski Patrol confirm[ed] the girls were enjoying the wonders of the mountain.” To rub the already appalled public’s noses in it even more, allegedly while in Sun Valley Sasha and Malia are bunking at Thunder Spring, which boasts being “A premier resort community for the select few.”

Living in Obama’s Mad House

Via: Canada Free Press

We are living in a mad house called America, courtesy of Barack Obama

Alan Caruba Sunday, March 24, 2013

Like everyone else I get up each day and do my best to make sense of my life. I turn on “Fox and Friends” while I pour a cup of my morning coffee. I give a quick read to The Wall Street Journal’s editorials and scan the news until later in the day when I devote more time to its content. I spend about an hour at the beginning of each day, reading and responding to those emails I have not deleted as fraudulent schemes or matters of no interest.

I “surf” the news and opinion sites to which I contribute and move on to The Drudge Report, a news aggregator that has an influence on the day’s issues comparable to Rush Limbaugh. The news is invariably bad whether it is about the nation’s imperiled economy, the gridlock in Congress, or events around the world. As an old journalist I understand well that bad news sells and good news is relegated to the “lifestyle” or “entertainment” sections of the newspaper or news sites.

Rush caught a lot of heat recently when he said he was “ashamed” of America, but I think a lot of us are ashamed of a nation being run by people of low-to-no character that we elected to office. We are ashamed of ourselves for being duped by some Republicans who are more closely aligned with Democrats, of a Republican Party that seems hapless and unable to unite around its values with a strong message of fiscal prudence, strong defense, and a host of other issues upon which we generally agree.

The United States used to feel like a rational place where, even when we had differences, they would be negotiated, compromises would be made, and our general welfare would be the guiding principle. We used to have cause to believe that the Constitution would determine our governance, but after four years without a budget and government still funded by “continuing resolutions”, there is cause to believe otherwise.

We used to have confidence that the Supreme Court would interpret that Constitution in ways that even the average citizen would if they took the time to read it. Obamacare blew that up. Declaring it a “tax” and ignoring its totally unconstitutional mandate to purchase insurance or be fined if you do not, the Court left the door open for worse mischief.

We now lurch from crisis to crisis with no resolution in sight. The cliché of “kick the can down the road” has become an everyday expression to describe a government that governs via presidential executive orders, ever more regulations, and the aforementioned continuing resolutions.

Americans cannot buy guns fast enough in the face of a government trying to negate the Second Amendment. It says “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” That’s definitive. ‘The people’ is us!

She Survived Hitler and Wants to Warn Us

Via: Humores y amores

Her name is Kitty Werthmann, and this is her story:

“I am a witness to history.

“I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history.

If you remember the plot of the Sound of Music, the Von Trapp family escaped over the Alps rather than submit to the Nazis. Kitty wasn’t so lucky. Her family chose to stay in her native Austria. She was 10 years old, but bright and aware. And she was watching.

“We elected him by a landslide – 98 percent of the vote,” she recalls.

She wasn’t old enough to vote in 1938 – approaching her 11th birthday. But she remembers.

“Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.”

No so.

Hitler is welcomed to Austria

“In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25 percent inflation and 25 percent bank loan interest rates.
Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn’t want to work; there simply weren’t any jobs.

“My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people – about 30 daily.’

“We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany, where Hitler had been in power since 1933.” she recalls. “We had been told that they didn’t have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living.

“Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group – Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone in Germany was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria. We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back.

“Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler.

“We were overjoyed,” remembers Kitty, “and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and
everyone was fed.

“After the election, German officials were appointed, and, like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service.

Obama Administration Believes No Warrant is Needed for Authorities to Use GPS Tracking on Vehicles

Via: Slash Gear

Shane McGlaun, Mar 19th 2013

You might think that police or other federal authorities would need to obtain a court order to be able to place a GPS tracking device on your vehicle. That court order is apparently not needed according to the Obama administration. This is despite the fact that the Supreme Court ruled last year that attaching GPS devices to the vehicles of citizens amounted to search protected by the Constitution.

Wired reports that the Obama administration will take its case before an appeals court this week in a case set to test the parameters of Supreme Court ruling from 2012 concerning GPS tracking. If the federal government wins, authorities will continue to be able to place GPS tracking devices on vehicles with no court order.

The case will be heard in the third US Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. At the heart of the case is a decision on whether or not police and other law enforcement agencies need probable cause warrants issued by a judge in order to track the GPS location of a suspect’s vehicle. Wired reports that after the Supreme Court’s January 2012 ruling, federal authorities disabled 3000 GPS trackers that were installed on vehicles without warrants.

Now Obama Targets Your FedEx, UPS Packages

Via: WND

Shipper warns move ‘has potential to threaten privacy of all customers’

The Obama administration is demanding the nation’s two biggest shipping companies police the contents of Americans’ sealed packages, and a FedEx spokesman is warning that the move “has the potential to threaten the privacy of all customers that send or receive packages.”

FedEx and UPS are in the Justice Department’s cross-hairs for not flagging shipments of illegally prescribed drugs the companies say they had no way of knowing were in their possession.

Criminal charges could be coming against the carriers, even though the government has not alleged any deliberate wrongdoing by the companies.

FedEx spokesman Patrick Fitzgerald said his company has a 40-year history of actively assisting the government crackdown on any criminal conduct, but he told WND this probe was very different from the start.

“What is unusual and really disturbing is it became clear to us along the way that FedEx was being targeted for some level criminal activity as it relates to these medicines that are being shipped from pharmacies, and we find it to be completely absurd because it’s really not our role,” Fitzgerald said. “We have no way of knowing what is legal and not within the packages that we’re picking up and delivering in this situation.”

“At the heart of the investigation are sealed packages that are being sent by, as far as we can tell, licensed pharmacies. These are medicines with legal prescriptions written by licensed physicians. So it’s difficult for us to understand where we would have some role in this. We are a transportation company that picks up and delivers close to 10 million packages every day. They are sealed packages, so we have no way of knowing specifically what’s inside and we have no interest in violating the privacy rights of our customers,” Fitzgerald said.

In addition to the unrealistic expectation that the federal government seems to have for the companies to know what’s in every package, Fitzgerald said protecting the rights of customers is paramount and the issues go hand-in-hand.

Anyone From The Class of ’83 Remember Obama?

Via: Israelmatzav

Sunday, March 17, 2013

I graduated from Bir Zeit on the Hudson a little too early to remember Barry Soetoro a/k/a Barack Hussein Obama. But isn’t it more than a little curious that not a single one of the 25 members of the Columbia College Class of 1983 – allegedly Obama’s class – who lives in Israel remembers him?

What are Obama’s classmates in Israel up to? Quite a few, like him, went straight to law school after finishing their undergraduate degrees. One is a doctor, several are engineers, and a few hold top jobs in finance. There’s an architect in the group, a tour guide, a librarian, a speech pathologist, an occupational therapist and a journalist. Most are married with children (about three on average ), a few are already grandparents, while others, who came to parenting relatively late in life, are still chasing around toddlers. Among the group are also two married couples who began dating while in college.

They’re scattered around the country, but Beit Shemesh and Ra’anana seem to be their preferred locales. Four live in Jerusalem and its outskirts, three in Tel Aviv, two are up north in Kfar Vradim, and two live over the Green Line in the settlement of Ginot Shomron.

But here’s the thing: Not one of us remembers Barack Obama – who transferred to Columbia after his sophomore year at Occidental College in California – from our undergrad years, nor do we know anyone else who does.

“If he wasn’t on my radar, he wasn’t on anyone’s radar,” asserts Jamie Miller, a mother of five, who lives in Beit Shemesh and remains active in the alumni association, traveling back to New York every five years to attend reunions.

“I was a cheerleader, so I knew all the jocks,” says Miller, who went to law school after college and today works as a librarian and English teacher. “I was in the marching band, I worked on the yearbook, and I was involved in student government, so I knew everyone. But I never saw him around.”

Sarah Graber Nehrer, a speech pathologist who moved with her family from the United States to Rehovot last summer, says she became curious about Obama even before his first presidential run. “When he first came on the political scene, back when he was running for the Senate, I was living in Illinois, and I was like, ‘Wait, this guy went to school with me,'” she explains. “But I had no recollection of him whatsoever, and neither did anyone else I know, which I found very strange.”

Compared with other American universities, Columbia, a member of the prestigious Ivy League, is small. Its graduating class in 1983 – including Columbia College for men, Barnard College for women and the College of Engineering – had fewer than 2,000 students. And since the campus itself, located in the uptown Manhattan neighborhood of Morningside Heights, is also quite small, the opportunities to bump into your classmates and get to know faces over a period of four years were abundant.

Yet another classmate, Michael Teplow, notes that someone with presidential aspirations “wouldn’t be shy, but in fact, quite gregarious,” which is why he, too, was surprised to discover “when I first started flipping through my yearbook looking for his picture that he wasn’t there, and I didn’t remember him at all.” Like Obama, Teplow went onto law school after he graduated Columbia. Today he lives in the settlement of Ginot Shomron, from which he travels each weekday to his law firm in Tel Aviv. Most of his practice is in corporate law, but Teplow has also built up a pro-bono side practice over the years representing Palestinians who have served as informers for Israel’s security forces.

Another Tel Aviv corporate lawyer in the group is Norman Menachem Feder, a senior partner in Caspi & Co., who once clerked for the late Supreme Court Justice Menachem Elon. “I spent most of my time at Columbia either in the library or in the gym practicing for fencing, so if Obama wasn’t hanging out in those places, I wouldn’t have seen him,” he notes.

Teddy Weinberger moved to Israel 15 years ago with his wife and former classmate Sarah Jane Ross, who works in institutional sales at Excellence Nessuah investment house. From their home in Givat Ze’ev, in the West Bank just north of Jerusalem, where the couple live with their five children, Weinberger continues to maintain close ties with many of his old college buddies, and says he understands why Obama may not have been on any of their radar. “He was a transfer student living off campus and that made it possible for him to keep such a low profile.”

What might be a fair comparison is to ask how many of them knew another famous Columbian from that era – George Stephanopoulos – who was a class ahead of them.

You don’t think Barry lied about going to Columbia, do you?

The Scandal That Will Bring Obama Down

Via: The Western Center for Journalism

January 11, 2013 by Floyd and Mary Beth Brown

It’s even worse than we previously thought. A retired four-star admiral is now claiming that Barack Obama intentionally conspired with America’s enemies to stage a bogus attack and the kidnapping of an American ambassador so he could “negotiate” the release of a “hostage” and bolster his mediocre approval ratings just prior to the election!

The Washington Examiner, quoting retired Four-Star Admiral James Lyons, writes: “the attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi… was the result of a bungled abduction attempt…. the first stage of an international prisoner exchange… that would have ensured the release of Omar Abdel Rahman, the ‘Blind Sheik’…”

But something went horribly wrong with Obama’s “October Surprise.” Although the Obama Administration intentionally gutted security at the consulate prior to the staged kidnapping, former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty disobeyed direct orders to stand down, saved American lives, single-handedly killed scores of attackers…and the attackers, believing that Obama had betrayed them, tortured Ambassador Chris Stevens and dragged his body through the streets.

WASHINGTON (AP) – House Speaker John Boehner says he “absolutely” trusts President Barack Obama – not that they don’t have their differences.

Boehner tells ABC’s “This Week” that the two have a good relationship and that they’re “open with each other … honest with each other.” But the Ohio lawmaker says they’re trying to bridge some big differences.

One issue they agree on: The U.S. doesn’t have an immediate crisis in terms of debt.

Barack, A Few Travel Tips

By Amer Zahr

March 15, 2013 “Information Clearing House” – Mr. President, I hear you are traveling to Israel. As a concerned patriotic American citizen of Palestinian descent, I have some pointers for you.

Now, I assume you’ll be flying into Tel Aviv. Usually, when non-Jews arrive there, especially if they are a little darker-skinned, they are asked to wait in a… let’s call it a “VIP Room.” Incidentally, the room is quite nice. There’s a water cooler, comfortable chairs, and a soda machine. It’s probably the only place in the world where you can be racially profiled and get an ice-cold Coca-Cola all at once.

To avoid the room, I would mention that you are the President of the United States. It might help.

You may get strip-searched. Saying you are an American doesn’t help much here. I’ve tried. I even sang the national anthem last time an Israeli soldier was looking down my pants. Right after I said, “Oh say can you see,” he said, “Not much.”

To escape this embarrassment, I would mention that you are the President of the United States. It might help.

In case they don’t already know, you might not want to tell Israeli security you are half-Muslim. As a fellow half-Muslim, I can tell you they don’t really care about the percentage. Any bit of Muslim freaks them out. And I’m not sure if you heard, but the fans of one of Israel’s soccer teams, Beitar Jerusalem, actually protested when the club signed two Muslim players. When one of them scored in a game last week, hundreds of fans actually walked out of the stadium. One of the fans later stated about the Muslim players, “It’s not racism. They just shouldn’t be here.” Hopefully, they don’t know your middle name is “Hussein.” Maybe they didn’t watch the inauguration.

In any case, I would mention that you are the President of the United States. It might help.
